Flip Mino Digital HD Video Camera
Firstly, I’m going to have to apologise; I know I promised you that from now on, we were mainly going to feature fresh, young and new designer products.
However, I’ve had to stray away from the formula in order to include this week’s wonder gadget -It’s still very stylish mind you!
Recently I’ve been on the look out for a new phone or device that would let me record video content quickly, easily and inconspicuously so that I can begin uploading more video content on the blog. For example, if I am out somewhere and saw a great item of clothing or stumbled upon a sinfully cheap deal, I’d be able to record it there and then and immediately be able to post it on here for all of you guys to see.
And to my amazement, I stumbled upon this the ‘Flip Mino Digital Video Camera.’
The flip is the perfect product for those looking for something simple and allows them record and upload without any hassle. It has a USB that ‘FLIPS’ out and lets you upload everything you’ve just recorded in a matter of seconds.
Its appeal lies in its simplicity and now with the new HD version, it’s officially ’the worlds smallest HD camcorder.’ Its universal appeal is stretched further.
There are four styles; the Flip Video, Flip Ultra, Flip Mino & Flip MinoHD, each having their own functions. You can check them out here. The prices don’t vary too much, so you’re better of with either the Mino or MinoHD. The main differences are the capacity sizes. The Mino is 2G and allows you to watch an hour’s worth of footage!
Note that the HD version isn’t avaible in the UK yet but can be purchsed via sites such as ebay.
I’ll leave you with a video review to see some of the footage it’s capable of producing. It’s worth noting that this is just the Mino- the MinoHD’s quality would obviously be better.
You can purchase them from: ebuyer, Maplin, ebay, firebox or amazon.
P.S: If any of you kind folk would like to send me a late Xmas gift that will benefit yourself at the same time, then the MinoHD would be a great place to start. Thanks guys!

Top 5 Winter Sales
Right the credit crunch has hit us big time. There is a lot of doom and gloom about, however to sound clever a little (like the folk I recent visted at cambrigde university) theres a saying that goes wherever theres an action theres a reaction. I think thats it anyway.
Basically theres a brighter way to look at our current financial situation. A nicer way to reframe our position. They say in a recessions the first industry to go is mens fashion. I know thats not exactly great for us however its great news for you guys.
The forthcoming sales are right our street. There’s never been a better time to take advantage of all those cheap bargains. Now, we’ve already written about the ‘Art of Sale Shopping’ in a previous article which you can check out here, where we go through techiniques and tricks you need to learn to get the most out of those grueling shopping hours.
But what we haven’t told you about is where to shop.
So sit back as we introduce you to the top five winter sales.
1. Topman
Yes we know its an obvious choice, however, it all depends on what you pick out. Their sale is extremely cheap. To get the most out of it and aviod picking up the same pieces as everyone else, you’re best off sticking to their collaboration pieces.
Often limited edition, these garments are designed by a selection of up-and-coming and acclaimed designers whose pieces make up Topman’s LENS label.
A few lines end up in the sale and when they do they go extremely quick so make sure you’re on the lookout. We’ll start you off with this Dexter Wong Grey Wadded Waistcoat. From £50 to £25, need I say more?

Best Bargain: DX GRY WADDED WCOAT
Web: Topman
2. Size

Size? is a great place to pick up all your streetwear pieces. The footwear sale is the main focal point; arrive early and grab trainers for as little as £10. Our tip here is to stock up on your basics; a pair of fresh white trainers are an essential in every guys wardrobe and they should be just that ‘FRESH’.
However, unless your collection rivals ours (120 pairs is a little excessive we know), it’s difficult to use them often without getting them dirty. Your answer? Stock up now when they’re next to nothing.
Best Bargain: Pointer Seeker III
Web: Size
3. Oki-Ni
Yes it an online store but the sale is that good it needs to be included. Prices range from £40 up to £400, falling into a variety of categories. Oki-Ni are known for their exclusive selection of designer pieces so for all those looking for those special, individual garments- look no further.
Their footwear sale is great, and we’d advise you to check out their demin selection too. With a good variety of top quality Japanese denim, their sale prices are extremely inviting. Most definatly worth the investment.
Best Bargain: Acne Loose Jean
Web: Oki-Ni
4. Urban Outfitters
We personally feel that Urban Outfitters are a tad bit over priced. However, at the same time, there isn’t anyone on the high street stocking the range of streetwear and vintage items that they do. So as soon as their sale begins to creep in so does the grin on our collective Malaysian faces.
The quality of the clothing is a lot better than their rivals (naming no names, obviously), so when you do purchase an item, you know it’s going to last more than a couple of washes.
Everyone seems to go there to pick up their ‘over played’ Lyle & Scott Sweaters. Well, better for us, we all know men in general dress to fit in. That makes it easy for us to stand out in a good way.
Drop the Lyle and Shit sweaters and have a browse round the others on offer. We found this Dr Demin Jerome Deep V-neck sweater with elbow patches for a mere £24, that’s a SIN in our world. Mark our words, everyone will be soon rocking the grandad elbow patches.
Make sure you’re leading your friends, not following them!
Best Bargain: Dr. Denim Jerome Deep V Knit
Web: Urban Outfitters
5. Austin Reed
Now we could have put up a variety of cheaper suits from River Island and Zara, but we feel that whenever you invest in a suit, you get what you pay for. Not that we’re saying River Isalnd suits are bad, we just think Austin Reed’s are better and when there on sale, they’re EVEN better.
Austin finishes our top five sales. The reason being, when sale shopping people tend to go for the high street ‘trendy’ shops but it makes much more sense to check out the department stores and the chains that sell the classic menswear pieces.
Their clothing may not necessarily be trend-based, so when you do make a purchase, it will probably last you much longer than just that year, thus providing you with even more value.
When shopping for suits, every guy needs to have at least one grey and one blue suit; they will cover you for most occasions. We found a great navy blue suit for just £200. It’s 100% wool and comes from Austin Reed…now that really is bargain shopping.
Its versatility is unrivalled. You can use the blue blazer with jeans, chinos and trousers. The blue jacket is an essential part of every man’s causal wardrobe so you’re killing two birds with one stone.
Best Bargain: Navy Fine Herringbone Suit
Web: Austin Reed
So now we’ve given you the heads up, we’re expecting to see you down there. Just don’t think we’ll go easy on you because you’re part of our style community- it’s every man for himself in the sales, please believe us!

Stabo Printed Ties

Ties are fast becoming an essential part of every man’s wardrobe, more so for casual wear now than ever before.
However, with this growing trend comes mass high-street production retailers are churning out similar deigns in their thousands, with H&M and Topman being prime examples.
Consequently finding yourself in a club wearing the same neckwear as every guy on the dance-floor is becoming an irritating regular occurrence, so this week we’d thought we’d lend a helping hand.
Stabo.co.uk are a young British company and their ties are the perfect answer to your problems. Their unique prints add a great twist to the plain check and striped designs.
They’re subtle enough not to ruin the pattern but have enough artistic flair to grant a second look. It’s the perfect ice-breaker for those awkward intros in the bar.
And at £15-a-pop, you can’t go wrong. We know ties are usually on everyones ‘emergency’ gift list but we’d be perfectly happy welcoming these under our Christmas trees.

Top 5 London Trainer Stores
So, where do you go to get your kicks from now? Lakeside, Bluewater, Oxford Street, Westfield? Somewhere more local? Where?..WHEEEERRREEE???
Even when you finally figure out where to go, you then have to sub-figure out what shops to hit. It’s long! That’s why loads of men just grab whatever trainers that are ‘on trend’. So…you’ll end up getting white plimsols that you have been tricked into thinking look good because the masses are rocking them. White plimsols are officially ‘Shit’. There. I said it. Why do you think they cost between £5 and £15? Get some real trainers lads, seriously.
We’ve been trainer freaks in our past and have a lot of knowledge on the subject. These are our pick of the best trainer shops in London. Check them out and pick up some REAL trainers.

Located on South Molton Street, round the corner from Bond Street Station, this store is an absolute gem, specialising in unique men’s shoes and smart trainers and is a place where the sneaker heads congregate.
Poste is known for selling limited edition brand collaborations and they pick their stock carefully. The staff are all extremely knowledgeable and the regal burgundy sofa will entice you into trying on every shoe in store…in every size. It’s THAT comfortable.

Situated on Neal Street in the heart of central London’s shoe community, Offspring is the place that broke my trainer virginity.
My student loan ended up here. They regularly update their stock and their styles cover a wide range from Swear to Vans and from Prada to Gola. Offspring is you’re one stop trainer shop.
A lot of the staff are collectors themselves and will know everything you need to know. Go test their knowledge if you don’t believe me, just don’t expect to leave in a hurry.

The most obvious and commercial choice out of the five here but that still doesn’t take anything away from how great the store is. Size? hold a wide selection of shoes and their constantly updated stock package draws visitor from around the world.
Size? are also part of the JD group, so if you have a friend who gets discount at JD, then call them after all these years. Just say that you sat on your phone to ease into the conversation.
On arrival, you’d be mistaken for wondering into Willy Wonka’s lair, as you’ll be spoilt for choice with what’s on offer; so many unique trainers all with about three varying colour ways. Size spoils me. I love them.
Pop downstairs for a slick selection of street wear that works perfectly with the trainers upstairs and make sure you grab a copy of their newsletter to quench your sneakerholic tendencies; there you’ll learn about their unique trainer heritage as well as up-and-coming designs.

Although it may not be a store exclusively for trainers, Microzine is definitely worth a mention in our top five list. Finding the store is merely part of the fun! Tucked away behind Topshop (Oxford Circus), Microzine usually attracts only those in the know. But with the range of exclusive trainers, we had to break the mold and expose it for all its worth.
A cross between The Gadget Shop (RIP) and Size?, Microzine is one of central London’s most underrated stores. You may go there looking for trainers but with such a range of lifestyle products we wouldn’t be surprised if you leave a street art or interior design lover.

Although it’s not an independent store (yet), the service that Nike I.D. provides earns it’s place in our top five. As a brand, Nike are taking the customising trend very seriously and are attempting to move it away from exactly that; not just a trend, but a valid customer option.
For those who don’t know what Nike I.D is, it’s a trainer customising service. Pick your trainer, pick the colours, hell, even throw your name on if you want. Done. Totally exclusive to your creativity.
I personally know many of the staff members working in the department and you wouldn’t want anyone else serving you, believe me. They are not just knowledgeable, but passionate about the swoosh.
Style options are increasing all the time as well as the colours and materials of the shoe. The possibilities are endless and they’re all at YOUR disposal. This is what INDIVIDUALISM stands for.
236 Oxford Street, Marylebone
London, W1C 1DE020 7612 0800
So, there you have it, the top five sneaker stores in central London. Become familiar with them and your feet will be your most attractive asset. Just make sure you avoid dog shit.

Patent Laptop Bag from Spider Bags
Yes, we know that the whole ‘PATENT’ thing is huge at the moment but who cares when the bag looks this good.
This patent Laptop bag is sexier than Claudette Ortiz, and she is NOT ugly! The red lining is the perfect compliment to the shiny black body (no sexual connotations intended). It sports both a handle and a shoulder strap. The perfect fusion of function and design and at a mere £15 a pop you cant go wrong.
P.S. That’s even cheaper than any food item in Westfield’s (f***ing rip off place! Why no Mac D’s?)
Check out the rest of the collection here
Or for orders, contact Spider Bags at: infor@spdr.org.uk
