News Years Resolutions
Firstly, we’d like to wish you all a very (Delayed) Happy New Year. The last year has brought about a real change with all the financial hardship but it has also separated the committed; the winners, the champions, the leaders or whatever you prefer to call them.
So as we enter a new decade, let’s really take it seriously. We’ve put together a list of five ways in which you can consistently upgrade your style this year. That will make a lasting change.
1. Find a local tailor
Finding your correct fit is one of the most important aspects when improving your style. Getting a tailor will allow you to wear all those items that have a slight ill-fit and help take them to that perfect, bespoke look.
Tailors are especially useful when it comes to mending or altering vintage garments. Check out your local Yellow Pages or just use the most popular search engine on earth to help you discover your nearest tailor. Read More

Top 4 Fit Tips For The Larger Man

Just like texting on the iPhone, style can be a tricky one to get right. Swagger and confidence play a massive part in everyone’s personal style, but if you fail to apply it in correlation to your body shape, then it’s as useful as this Chinese Chin Rest.
So this week we bring you the rules and fit-tips which are essential for the larger man. Little tweaks that will help all those big-boned (and pot-bellied) men look a lot better in their clothes.
Not a big fella? No probs- just send the link to this article to someone that is. They’ll pretend to be offended, but they’ll use the info wisely. Harsh love is the only way sometimes.
So fellas, what are you waiting for? Not more pies I hope!
1. Get your blazer length right

Nothing is worse than having your arse looking like it’s FORCING it’s way out of your body. So make sure your blazer falls just below your buttocks to keep them concealed.
2. Only vertical stripes work

Avoid horizontal stripes as they accentuate the width of your chest or gut. Instead, stick with vertical stripes that lengthen your body by drawing the eyes downwards and not sideways. Pinstripes suits and shirts are a good choice.
3. Bulky Sweaters make you look fatter

Avoid bulky fabrics on top, as it only adds to the weight of your look. Stick to light-weight materials and layer up if it’s cold. You don’t want people to think you want to look like him under those clothes. OK? Good.
4. Pick single vents

If you have a large ass then avoid double-vented jackets. They add more bulk to your rear by flapping over it and showing its shape. Instead, use a single-vented blazer which closes the back of the blazer around your bum.

Top 4 Men’s Style Video Podcasts

If you’re not familiar with the term ‘video podcast’, then you’re probably still wearing LA Gear Lights, in which case, I pity you and won’t tell you that I think you’re sad and need a slap.
Video Podcasts are simply video clips which are delivered to your iPod (Please tell me you know what an iPod is? Please?) Every time you plug it into your computer, it enables you to watch the content.
Here are our Top 4 Men’s Style Video Podcasts. We feel that these podcasts provide clear, educational, engaging and entertaining information on men’s style that can aid you on your journey toward style perfection.
Subscribe to them, have a look and keep the ones that you like. By watching just a few of these podcasts a week, it’s amazing how much you will learn in a year. Trade those LA Gear Lights for some life upgrading info! (I bet LA Gear Lights make a comeback soon. Wait and see.)
1. Style.com – In the closet

The big guns at Style.com, GQ, or whatever you want to call them, are leading the way. Although they don’t publish very often, when the do, it’s a good watch. Ranging from store tours to packing tips, you can be sure that all the presenters have a wealth of knowledge and they bring it to you in a fun, gentlemanly style. Their podcasts are split into two; ‘In the Closet’ and ‘Fashion, Gear & Style for Men’. Subscribe here.
2. Frontline TV

A gem I found whilst flicking though people’s blog posts. This Scandinavian video podcast features videos that focus on the creative scene -from interviews with Cheap Monday to coverage of Bread and Butter. It’s a great example of web 2.0 and how similar passions are connecting people across the world. Plus it’s great to view content outside of the UK and US for once!
Check their site out here.
3. Monocle Edits

I’m a little late with this beauty, but from what I’ve viewed so far, there are some great feature videos. It has a strong British-feel from the style editing all the way through to the script – these are formal, no nonsense, fact-based videos.
Although it may seem to lack a little character, it’s always packed with great knowledge and information. Subscribe here.
4. Cool Hunting

Cool Hunting is more art-based than fashion and style. However, when the hunters of cool do touch a style-based subject, they do it large. Having a well-connected and followed blog means that when these guys produce a video it needs to have a massive USP.

Men’s Dress Shoes Styles
There’s a famous saying regarding classic men’s style: ‘Shoes maketh the man’. There is also a reason why it has stood the test of time and been rewarded with the title classic…Because it’s true!
There are many things that stand the test of time. Stacey Dash’s beauty, Jimmy Nail’s voice and the saying ‘Shoes Maketh the man’. Why? Because they never change and will always stay true.
Now we have that clear we can get on to what dress shoes are? If you don’t already know, dress shoes are the shoes that are your most formal of footwear. There are shoes that are classier but still works as casual, i.e. loafers, driving mocks and boat shoes. All very stylish but they don’t belong in this category. Dress shoes are the ones that you’ll be wearing with your suits/tuxes etc.
Your classier piece. It’s the Berbatov of the shoe world. The west London girls as apposed to the south (bring on the hate mail!)
So let’s get to it.
Oxford Toe Cap
This is a classic shoe. Mainly available in black, the Oxford toe cap is similar to it’s simpler cousin, the Oxford. However, it has the addition of the toecap. It is generally down to a choice of personal taste. I have an incline towards the toe cap. For a modern look try to find one in which the welt (the seam where the upper meets the sole and creates the out edge of the shoe) does not protrude showing a wide base or you’ll risk looking like Mr Millar from my primary school. The slimmer silhouettes are modern and chic.
Plain Oxford

It’s exactly what it says. They are great for suits and business wear yet they can also be worn with a good pair of well fitting dark indigo dress jeans. They are the cornerstone of a stylish man’s wardrobe, the central defence partnership in football terms.
Wing Tip Oxford Brouge
Takes it’s name from the pattern on the side resembling a wing. Wingtips hold a rich heritage look. The baroque pattern in synonymous with the style. Very British and very classic. A good quality brown pair will last a lifetime and never go out of fashion. They also add a touch of flair to the serious business look.
Monk Strap

Out of all the dress shoes this is the least formal, however they are a great alternative to loafers and are universally flattering. If tying your shoelaces is all a bit too much bother, these are the perfect answer! Monk straps are a nice change to the lace up’s. There are a great variety of styles and designs from one or two buckles, leather, suede, black or blue.
